Steamboat Springs Bud Werner Library: Interesting Information
February 4, 1967 had been a day of rejoicing and a day of mourning for the folks of Steamboat Springs. On this day, the greats of the world of skiing gathered in a lovely new building at the west end of Lincoln Avenue to pay their final respect to Wallace "Bud" Werner. His name is posted above the door of the building and the sign states "Bud Werner Memorial Library". The library started with 4,700 books in its collection and the total amount is now above 14,000. In 1971, the museum was designated as a district library giving it a bigger base by which to increase earnings for routine maintenance and upkeep.

Monday - Thursday: 9 am - 8 pm Friday: 9 am - 6 pm Saturday: 9 am - 5 pm Sunday: 10 am - 5 pm
The library is not open on almost all Federal holidays.
Cooks With Books is an extremely popular seasonal cooking event at the library. It’ll be held on Monday, 16th of September 2013 at 5:30 pm. The site of the event is in the Staff Kitchen - Administration Wing. The event is for people who have fun with the steps involved in studying and also making exciting food then sharing it with other people. This book discussion group meets once a month and the facilitator is Michelle Dover, Bud Werner Library’s Circulation Services Manager. Participants are able to cook a dish based on the concept for that month and after that share it along with other group members. The group is offered to anyone but involvement is restricted to fifteen folks each meeting.
Wild Films at the Library is actually a free series presenting award-winning international wildlife films entered at the International Wildlife Film Festival. On October 2, Wednesday at 6:30 PM, the film that’ll be shown is "The Last Lions". The film received several awards at the 2013 International Wildlife Film Festival which includes Best Film, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design and Best Editing. Set in place in the lush esturine habitat of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, here is the remarkable story of a lioness willing to attempt everything and risk all the things to give protection to the lives of her family.
